Snow Plant

This plant does not grow through photosynthesis but instead draws nutrients from the ground much like a mushroom.

Aster with Aphids

While walking around the Donner Party Picnic Area (yep, that is a real place) I found these tiny asters which were only about a half inch across. When I got down close with my Macro Lens I was pleased to see that it was swarming with aphids.

I found out that the reason that you see so many daffodils in the area is that the deer will not eat them.

these tree blossoms only last a few days here in the desert heat and the strong winds coming down from the mountains strip the pedals away quickly.
